Welcome to the CNA Exam Cram’s list of the top CNA Resources. Whether or not you are new CNA, preparing to become one or a veteran, this list of the best resources will help anyone has they prepare for the their career or hope to improve it. As a CNA, the more you know, the better off your patients will be. Therefore, it is extremely important that you attempt o improve your overall CNA capabilities.

Furthermore, don’t forget that CNA hiring organizations have access to you CNA exam scores, so make sure you take all appropriate measure to ensure your scores are the best.

Top CNA Reference Books and Text Books

While it is important to prepare for you CNA Exam, it is even more important that you continue to improve you CNA education as you move through your career so as to better you capability and help improve you medical team.  These textbooks have been some of the best in the medical industry and the CNA community.  If you CNA course did not require you to purchase these, then they did you a great disservice.  They will not only help you to pass the CNA exam, but will also help you to increase your overall CNA knowledge and aid you in excelling in your career.  Furthermore, if you ever decide to the MACE exam or move up to become an RN, these textbooks will continue to provide critical data to help you on your next step.

Mosby’s Textbook for Nursing Assistants

A personal favorite of our, the Mosby’s Textbook for Nursing Assistants has been Helping CNAs improve their skills and has been at the forefront of Nursing education for years. This complete Nursing Assistant textbook provides everything needed to gain the knowledge necessary to pass the CNA exam.  Furthermore, it is a perfect resource for those looking to improve their CNA knowledge and skills. Amongst the highest rated textbooks on Amazon, this reference book is credited for being easy to understand and even better at developing key competency skills.

Lippincott’s Textbook for Nursing Assistants

Lippincott’s Textbook is a little bit more pricier but is an excellent resource.  If you don’t want to pay the full price, you can rent it out instead for only $17.14, although a book of this magnitude should be on every CNA’s bookshelf.  While we personally feel as though both are comparable, many past CNAs have preferred Lippincott’s over Mosby’s, claiming it is easier to understand and had better diagrams and such. Either way, we strongly believe that both will improve your capability and help you advance.

Top CNA Study Guides and Practice Tests

When it comes to preparing for the CNA Test, there is nothing better than a professionally made study guide or practice test.  If done well, they are usually written by someone who has not only taken the test, but has worked in the field long enough.  In certain cases, the study guides have been written by someone who worked as a CNA instructor or even a proctor.  These types of study guides can not only help you to build your CNA knowledge, but also give you test secrets and test-taking strategies that will absolutely make a huge difference.

The Official CNA Study Guide

The Official CNA Study Guide is CNA Exam Cram’s favorite Study Guide out of the whole bunch.

Packed with the best study material it ends strong with two of the best practice tests out there. Plus, it’s a major bonus that this is the cheapest one of them all.

CNA Exam Cram

The CNA Exam Cram is a little pricier than the Official CNA Study Guide but still does an amazing job in presenting the information and giving a decent practice test at the end of the guide.

The older of the two, it needs to be updated but is still a tried and true method in gett you ready for the exam. Also, we are not affiliated with this book.

CNA Exam Prep

The CNA Exam Prep is a very capable study guide, however, considering it is pricier than the Official CNA Study Guide, we can’t recommend it.

I would say you should only purchase this if you are in need of more practice exams however, the information presented here is very basic and not up to par with other CNA study guides on the market.

CNA Testing Site Information

Below are sites and resources that we found to be worth your time and authentic.  They range from blogs, pdfs, practice tests, and general resources.  Remember that the internet is riddled with fake websites out there and will only try to lead you astray.  Make sure to check the author’s credentials.  If they don’t have a “contact us” page or an “about us” page, then this is usually a bad sign.

• • The Official NCSBN Website – The National Council of State Boards for Nursing is the leading organization for state-sponsored CNA tests. Here you can find more information about the MACE CNA Test in case you want to continue to rise in the ranks of CNAs.  Also, you can find valuable information about the NNAAP Test and help to build a better understanding of the NNAAP test requirements and structure. Furthermore, this site also provides information about how to register for the official CNA exam in your state.

• • Asisvc’s Free NNAAP Practice Test – This free CNA exam has a great structure and follows the guidelines of the NNAAP examination.  Sadly, it doesn’t have any answer key explanations but is a free way to gauge you knowledge and see where you stand.

• • Nursing Assistants Blog – This is one of the oldest and longest standing legitimate CNA blogs online. Patti, Kim and Heather have done a great job of keeping up-to-date information about our profession and give wonderful insight to our career and it’s future. This is a site that CNA Exam Cram staff used when we were preparing for the exam and continue to use to this day.
